Cactus Education is the education division of Cactus Communications. We were formerly known as i-osmosis.

In Cactus Education, we teach written English through online, instructor-led courses. Good writing is an indispensable skill for not just writers and journalists but also others: a working professional writes emails and reports, a student writes in academic assignments and standardized tests, a researcher writes papers for publication, and people around the world write for personal communication and creative expression.

We’ve conducted thousands of online English writing courses for individuals, and we’ve also developed and tutored courses on email writing, manuscript writing, and academic writing for universities and companies.

We follow a 1:1 teaching model, where each course has one student and one instructor. There are two components in our courses:

Essays and evaluations

Students write essays, and instructors evaluate these essays and provide advice in clear, simple language. The comprehensive writing instruction that we provide is difficult to impart in a traditional classroom setting.

One-to-one interaction

Students and instructors interact entirely in English over an online forum. Students do not feel inhibited because the forum for each student is a strictly private space for just that student and his or her instructor. Often, this interaction is much more than questions and answers about the essays and evaluations. Our instructors, who believe in Communicative Language Teaching, are experts in engaging each student through conversation. Unfettered by the presence of others, the student and instructor interact freely with each other, establishing an almost personal connection that is hugely beneficial to the learning process.
